Island Trail 22 design published in Woodenboat Magazine

Our Island Trail 22 design was acknowledged as a notable entrant in the 2011 Woodenboat/Professional Boatbuilder magazines international design competition!

This years competition was particularly intriguing because it took into account the current economic problems for the general sailing public.  This passage from the design parameters, “Inspired in part by the worldwide popularity of raid-type events—multi-day racing and cruising expeditions sailed in small boats.”, says it all.  The winning entry would be easily trailered and launched, inexpensive to build and maintain, fun and fast to sail, seaworthy and safe, but also have enough accommodations to cruise and explore up to a week at a time.  This “going back to the basics” approach to sailing and boating in general brings a breath of fresh air into the marine marketplace which is struggling to connect with it’s customer base and their new outlook on their finances.
